The next event before truly studying in Bina Nusantara University is to participate with the academic orientation. In this part of event, we learn about university more, what with how we just graduated from high school and getting used to the high school life. They taught us about how different it is the university from high school, in terms of the schedule, how we have to actively participate and not just listen and receive everything the lecturer give us, and how we have to be more independent than we were in high school.

We started our first day in the large auditorium, consists of all the computer science major students. We were all taught about what algorithm and psedocode are and all the simple examples. There are also small classes for algorithms which is basically for us to be able to practice in the C language.

We were also introduced to our curriculums and to the major itself, like what will we be studying, what kind of things we can study, and introductions to the lecturers. All of the lecturers are very kind and understanding and they’re very patient in teaching us all that they can. The study environment is also very nice.

There is also an exam at the end of the academic orientation. The material consists of the algorithms and pseudocode that we’ve practiced in the smaller classes. It was hard on my opinion because I haven’t studied much on C language, but I intend to try harder in the next exams.

In this episode of Re-load: Games on Review, there are three games displayed earlier.

The first one was Snow Defender which was developed by Dwi. It was actually similar to the game Plants vs. Zombies but with slight differences. The story begins where a kid befriends a snowman, but then a snowmonster came and tried to wreck the snowman. So the kid steps up to attack the snowmonster with snowballs to protect his friend. The game has good mechanics and a smooth gameplay. It also gets harder the longer you play it.

The second one was War of Creatures which was developed by Indharto and Susanto. It was about a card game similar to Yu-gi-oh. You can also pick your hero by choice. The hero has elements like range, HP and such. There are also support cards which you can use to battle and get mana.

The third game was Necrolands which was developed by Todo and Yuven. Where you kill ghosts inspired by ghosts in Indonesia. The weapons they use are also some tools in Indonesia that you can use. There are also various modes that you can choose to play and various characters with differents stats to play with. The higher the level, the harder the enemies and the higher your resistances to attacks.

In our major, there are three organizations, jollybee, ureeka, and himti.

Jollybee is an organization built for programming skills. The students will learn a lot of programming skills in a lot of softwares and will eventually be sent to competitions. It’ll be a lot of experience in entering the competitions and there will also be a lot of gatherings amongst the members too.

Ureeka is also like jollybee, but they lean towards game developing. You can register with your already-formed team or you can register without a team and the seniors will gather you all to be able to form a team. You’ll eventually be able to enter your game to a competition as well and there will also be gatherings amongst the members.

HIMTI is an organization consists of members of School of Computer Science in the Binus campus. All students who major in this community will automatically be listed as one of HIMTI. You can also be an activist here, and as an activist there will be a lot of activities, such as preparing the events like HTTP and Hexion. There will also be gatherings amongst other activists too.

When the seniors first introduced the event to us, I was intrigued. It sounded like fun, there are performances by the seniors and there are also an IT showcase, although I’m not a computer junkie, I’m definitely curious about all kinds of technology in this day and age.

At the d-day, when I arrived, they’re already showing Zootopia before the event starts so that we didn’t get bored. After that, there’s a band performance by the seniors. I think it was really good. HIMTI really did a great job in organizing the elements in the event. The performance, the games, and the talkshow which is really informative for us freshman. They’ve also prepared a visualization of the whole HIMTI and how they have to team up to prepare for an event.

Then, at the top of the event, we all have fun together with some performance, a DJ, and a doorprize. It was all fun together and I really have a good experience.

Hey guys! I don’t think I have much to tell you guys at all, haha.

Well, my name is Reyna Rosalia and I’m 18 years old. I was a student of Saint Ursula High School before I graduated and entered Bina Nusantara University. To be honest, I never really planned or even thought of even entering the university at all, but then a relative of mine came and suggested for me to apply to the university.

At first when I arrive with my friend for the general orientation, I was super nervous! I really thought I was the only girl in my major; the Game Application & Technology. Turns out, I really am! But that’s only the first batch, and then I feel relieved to know that there are other girls besides me in other batches. Though in my class, ABN 08, alongside people from DKV animation, it was all fun. We all listen to all the lectures from our buddy coordinator about the regulations, how the campus works, the organizations they have, and their experiences studying in Bina Nusantara University. The first day we did our introductions and I guess everyone kind of cheered at me because I’m the only girl who is a GAT major in that class? ahaha. I was really happy when everyone welcomed me warmly. The second day we attended the opening ceremony to formally open the Freshmen Enrichment Program and we sang the song of our university. The next few days was a blur for me but everything became a memory that I would never forget. We also practiced our cheer everyday for last day’s event. Even though in the end our class didn’t win, we still feel proud of it.

Our inauguration is was only for a day so it was short but really full of memories! In that event, we formally became university students of Bina Nusantara University.
